No, don't ever avoid them. Avoiding them will cause another issue, and it'll come back to you. If you cannot seem to find an answer to the problem, counseling may be right. Or simply, gather everyone and have a long discussion and say that no one can leave until the problem is solved. Have everyone express what they are feeling, pay attention because it might be something you are doing that you don't know. I hope everything works out with you and your family, meltdown.
