I think the fact that you have tried to talk to her about this and her bizarre response "no means no", is an alarming sign. When two people are happy in a relationship, they can't WAIT to see the other one in between classes. This makes no sense to me. It seems like she is totally embarassed about your relationship, or she has an agenda. Maybe she has a crush on someone else, and doesn't want to appear "taken".

If you really want to stay with this girl, I would try talking to her about it one more time. If she is still clammed up about responding, you might want to save yourself the emotional turmoil your putting yourself through and end it.

If she is affectionate with you when you guys are alone, and hugging people in public aside from you, this is a big problem. It doesn't mean that she's not the "affectionate type", as it doesn't appear she has any apprehensions about having PDA with others.

I totally agree with what she said. Something is definitely up. I also agree that you should talk to her once more. If you get the same sort of response move on. You can do better than that.
