| Restraining Order?
I wanted to know if any of you have experience getting a restraining order against an ex. My ex-husband (I was young and stupid!) is having a hard time letting go, even though it has been over 2 years since our divorce. We tried being friends, but it didn't seem like he could handle it, and I told him I didn't want to speak to him anymore. That was about a month ago, and he has started calling and emailing me quite a bit, despite my protests. This is so frustrating, and it's starting to cause conflict in my current relationship. |

From what I heard it's not worth it. The guy will only get more obsessed and even angry if he is threatened by a restraining order. It could make him go nuts and take it a step further. Unfortunately that's all they said when some professional source told me about restraining orders, but I know there has to be some alternatives to it as you wouldn't want your ex stalking you in the night.

Depending on where you live you can only get a restraining order if the guy is actually threatening you with bodily harm. You can ask your phone company to change your phone number because your ex is harrassing you, and you are feeling threatened by him. Or you could just block his number from calling you. That way it is on record somewhere that you tried to go about getting him to stop. You can also block his email address and/or get a new account name. You should call your local legal aid to see what other measures you can take. I had a hard time with an ex that was similar.
