| Virgin | Ode To Her
This is a poem that will be part of my novel when it is finished. Ode to 'Her' my eyes have been and looked upon a face of hate and evil none and in her eyes a light doth shine to tempt so no pure man decline Where once the secrets of thy flesh Were kept entwined in nature fresh This maiden works well to evoke Her own felt truths made to revoke. The teardrops still there by the fire Flee to the air from heats desire Whiile Th'amber of her saintly skin Shall easily tempt thee to sin But light in the absence of eyes Reflects not but darkness disguise And beauty in absence of light Could satisfy no man's delight For light of beauty, beauty true Establish thirst for feelings new As knowledge spurred the subtil snake To tempt the maiden to the gate And fling it open to escape from eden that the mind doth drape And first this seemed to discern all But thoughts of this ungodly fall But now as plain is plain to see This 'fall' was clearly meant to be For now we know much more than then Tho paradise is not Land of men So on we live and on we learn And wait until our heav'nly turn When light of beauty fills our eyes And we shall know true paradise For paradise among this world Is finding love in boy and girl And so with my lover I shall stay Here in my heav'n here on this day. |
