| Religious v. Spiritual
So we had a discussion in class today that was actually kind of interesting. Do you guys differentiate between being religious and spiritual? Basically being religious means you follow an organized religion and spiritual means finding a closer relationship with God. You can of course combine the two, but there are some people who are more one thing than the other. What do you think is more important to be? What do you consider yourself? Do you talk to God but don't go to Church - or do you only see God in the Church? Just looking for some input! Personally I find myself more spiritual than anything else. I don't really go to any sort of religious service but I think I have a good relationship with God as I try to talk to him everyday. |

Actually going to church and remembering the Sabbath are 2 different things. People go to church and don't remember the Sabbath. The Sabbath is a weekly religious day of rest, that means rest no work. The Jewish in some cases won't even drive cars or push elevator buttons because that is work. The going to church part was (I think) due to the fact that most people in middle ages couldn't read so to get their religion (the bible) they would go to church and have it read to them (sermons?). Now a more cynical approach is that the church wants control over your religion - contact with god so they want you to only be in contact with god at church. | |

I'm an athiest and don't believe in God, but I do believe in all those things you were taught when you were little. Like, I don't believe in lying, or being rude, and I try to be the best, nicest, most sensitive person i can be. The religious differences between my boyfriend and I (he's roman catholic) has caused intense arguments when we discuss our eventual wedding.
