Why are guys interested in anal sex? and women not?

It seems to me that, generally speaking, guys are labelled as interested in anal sex, and women aren't. I understand that this doesn't apply to everyone, but assuming it does, then here are my questions.

What is the attraction of anal sex? Similarily, for you women, what makes it so unappealing?

I'm male, and love the idea of anal sex. Never experienced it, so I don't know if I actually like it. I've always been attracted to women with curvy hips. I love the feel of my girl's behind. Maybe it's genetics, maybe it's ... something else. -shrugs- I dunno.

Perhaps this is slanted by my desire to try it, but I don't understand why a woman wouldn't at least try anal sex. As long as you are clean, wear a condom, and take care, there is little chance of germ spread. There is little chance of impregnation.
The fear of pain is justifiable. However, from all that I have been able to discern from reading, as long as lots of lube, plenty of foreplay, lots of lube, taking time, more lube, good communication, and extra lube are all utilized, the pain should be non-existant. (This is from things I've read, and not from experience.)

I really think it's a combo of the pain and the hygienics of it. I'm completely an ass-man, but I really never was hot on the idea of having anal sex. I think it's the whole poop-shoot(for lack of a better word) thing for me. I tried it with my ex-girlfriend and to be honest it wasn't that big of a deal. The sensation of vaginal and oral sex is much more enjoyable to me. But I honestly don't get why anal sex is the goal of all guys. It's considered a big deal to it, but it really isn't all that great.

Well i am a feamle and i love anal. There is a wonderful feeling to it. I have had way harder orgasm with anal sex than i have vaginal sex. It never hurts to try everything the worst u can say is I dont like it!

Not a big deal for me. I never liked the thought of it because... why **** a girl in the ass if you can **** them in the vagina? I Mean... Seriously... If I wanted to choose ass over a vagina then I'd go gay. I tried it once with my girlfriend because she wanted to see how it felt. Didn't feel that great. I'd rather masturbate.

i think the stigma of anal sex has to do with all the possible things that can go wrong, like a fistula (anal tear) or some kind of strange infection. these can be avoided if you're careful, but it does add a negative connotation to the woman's side
