Move away

The one tip that I'd like to provide everyone after you get married is to move away from both sets of parents. That way you can develop your own identity as a married couple. Also, during that first year of marriage, you don't get jerked around by in-laws during the holiday season.

Very good advice. We did move away, right after the wedding, and we did very well establishing ourselves as a family. Not every new couple can do this though.
