- Out-of-network reimbursement: insurance isn't billed directly, but we provide receipts you can submit for possible reimbursement or apply to an HSA.
- No commitment to start: a free 15-minute consultation lets you ask questions and see if it's the right fit before you book.
Finding time for therapy can be tricky when your days already feel full. Online therapy offers another way to get support without adding another trip to your schedule. More people are opting to connect with a therapist online than ever before: 38% said they choose telehealth options, up 7 percentage points from 2020.
From our home base in Croton-on-Hudson, New York-licensed therapist Angela Penichet, LCSW, meets by secure video with individuals and couples throughout Westchester County, all five New York City boroughs, and the rest of New York State. You can start with a free 15-minute consultation and see how the conversation feels.
Book a Free 15-Minute Consultation
Reaching out to a therapist can feel vulnerable, particularly if you’re not sure what to say or what kind of help you need. You don’t have to figure everything out before you call. The free 15-minute consultation is a chance to share what’s been going on, ask questions, and get a sense of whether Angela feels like the right person to help you.
This call isn’t a therapy session or a sales conversation, and it doesn’t commit you to an appointment. It is okay to come to the conversation feeling nervous or unsure.
You can also ask about our approach, availability, fees, or insurance during the call. When you are ready, call 914-874-6852, email info@relationshipsandmore.com, or contact Relationships & More to request a consultation.
Meet Your New York Licensed Therapist
Angela Penichet is a New York-licensed clinical social worker based in Westchester County. She has more than 30 years of experience providing individual and relationship counseling, and her New York LCSW license number is 046544.
Angela has an extensive educational background, having earned an MS from Columbia University, an MSW from Hunter College, and an MS from Arizona State University. Her graduate education included family therapy training at Columbia and mindfulness-based counseling at Arizona State. She also completed advanced training in the following:
- Sue Johnson’s Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy
- Esther Perel’s Sexuality and Relationships method
- The Gottman Method
Experience and credentials matter, but therapy is also deeply personal. You need to feel that the person across from you is listening, understands what you are trying to express, and will not judge you for having a hard time. Angela brings that warmth and openness to each session. Together, you can look at what’s been weighing on you and start finding a realistic path forward.
Where We Serve: NYC, Westchester, and All of New York
Online therapy is available to clients located anywhere in New York State at the time of their appointment. You don’t need to live near our Croton-on-Hudson office or travel to Westchester County for care.
We work with clients in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island, as well as White Plains, Rye, Ossining, Peekskill, Yonkers, and other Westchester communities. Sessions are also available throughout Long Island, the Hudson Valley, and upstate New York. If getting to an office has kept pushing therapy further down your list, secure video sessions can make support easier to fit into your life.
What Is Teletherapy?
Teletherapy is therapy delivered through secure video instead of in an office. You and your therapist can see and speak with each other in real time, but you join from a private space at home, at work, or elsewhere in New York. For many people, removing the travel makes it easier to attend consistently and be present once the session begins.
Online sessions can address many of the same needs as our other counseling services, including personal concerns and relationship challenges. Only the setting changes. The conversation, connection, and work you do together remain personal.
Is Online Therapy Right for You?
Online therapy may be a good fit if you want support but have struggled to make in-person appointments work. Travel can turn even a helpful appointment into another source of stress, especially when your schedule is unpredictable, or you care for someone else. You may also find it easier to open up from a familiar, private space.
The practical step is simple: you need a reliable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone, and a place where you can speak privately. You must also be physically present in New York State during each appointment.
Online care isn’t the safest or most helpful choice in every situation. If you are facing an immediate safety concern, a severe mental health crisis, or ongoing domestic violence, you may need emergency resources or specialized in-person support instead. During the consultation, we can talk openly about what is happening and whether teletherapy can meet your needs.
If you’re not sure whether your situation is right for online therapy, you don’t have to make that decision alone. Call us at 914-874-6852, email us, or we can talk it through during your free consultation.
Is Online Therapy Effective?
For many concerns, online therapy can produce outcomes similar to in-person treatment. The American Psychological Association reports that telephone- and video-based therapy has shown similar outcomes to traditional therapy for concerns that include anxiety, depression, and PTSD. A systematic review and meta-analysis of video psychotherapy also found that symptom reduction through video wasn’t inferior to face-to-face care. However, online treatment isn’t the right format for everyone or every situation.
Benefits of Online Therapy
The best therapy format is one you can return to consistently and use honestly. Online sessions remove practical obstacles that make regular care difficult, while still giving you private, focused time with your therapist. Depending on your needs and routine, that can offer several meaningful benefits.

Benefits of Online Therapy
| Benefit | What It Means for You |
|---|---|
| Easier access | Meet with a licensed therapist from anywhere in New York State. |
| Flexible scheduling | Fit therapy into your day without budgeting time for a round-trip commute. |
| Familiar surroundings | Talk from a private space where you feel comfortable and grounded. |
| Fewer practical barriers | Continue care when parenting responsibilities, mobility needs, illness, or distance makes travel difficult. |
| More privacy | Avoid a shared waiting room and join from a location you choose. |
| Less NYC travel | Skip traffic, subway delays, and trips across the boroughs — a session can fit more naturally between meetings or other responsibilities. |
It’s natural to still have questions. Making therapy easier to attend is valuable, but convenience is only part of the decision. Online sessions also need to offer the right kind of support for what you’re facing.
What We Help With
You don’t need a diagnosis, a perfectly worded explanation, or a clear therapy goal before you reach out. You may know exactly what you want help with. You may only know that you feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or tired of carrying the same concern by yourself. Either is a valid place to begin.
Online individual therapy may help with mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, and sleep concerns. You can also find support for stress, grief, difficult transitions, caregiver strain, and the effects of past abuse.
Relationship counseling can help when the same arguments keep resurfacing, you feel far apart, or trust has been hurt. It can also give you room to talk through parenting disagreements and intimacy concerns without turning the conversation into another fight. Couples preparing for marriage may benefit from premarital counseling, while those uncertain about their relationship’s future can explore discernment counseling. We also offer specialized support through LGBTQ+ couples counseling and anger issues counseling.
Can Couples Do Therapy Online?
Yes. Couples can attend online therapy together from the same private room or connect from separate locations when work, travel, or commuting makes being in one place difficult. Your therapist can hear both perspectives, slow the conversation when emotions rise, and help you talk more productively.
Separate locations can be especially practical for couples managing different schedules in New York City. Each partner still needs privacy, a stable connection, and a device that allows full participation. Couples who want longer, concentrated support may also consider couples weekend intensives as an alternative format.
Therapy Approaches Used in Online Sessions
Therapy shouldn’t feel like someone is running you through a script. The approach should reflect the concerns bringing you to therapy, how you respond when things get difficult, and what you hope will change.
Angela draws from several established therapy types, but the work remains flexible and personal to you.
- Gottman Method Couples Therapy helps couples understand unproductive conflict patterns and build skills for communication, friendship, and connection. In video sessions, partners can practice structured conversations with the therapist’s guidance.
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) explores the emotions and attachment needs beneath recurring relationship conflict. The therapist helps partners slow difficult interactions down so each person can respond with more openness and security.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses on connections among thoughts, emotions, and behavior. Online sessions can include reflection, skill practice, and practical exercises that clients use in daily life.
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps people relate differently to difficult thoughts and feelings while taking actions that reflect their values. Video sessions provide space to clarify those values and practice responding more flexibly.
You don’t need to choose a method before you begin. Angela may draw from more than one approach as she gets to know you and your goals become clearer.
Session Length, Fees, and Insurance
Standard appointments last 45 minutes. Published session fees range from $150 to $300, depending on the therapist, service, and appointment length. We may offer longer appointments for couples or intensive work. We know cost is an important part of deciding whether therapy is manageable, so we will confirm the exact length and fee before you schedule.
Relationships & More doesn’t participate in insurance networks or accept insurance directly. We provide receipts that you can send to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement or apply to a health savings account. You are welcome to ask about these options during your consultation.
New York’s telehealth law generally prevents eligible health plans from excluding an otherwise covered service solely because it is provided through telehealth. It also requires applicable cost-sharing terms to be at least as favorable as those for the same in-person service. That doesn’t guarantee reimbursement for an out-of-network provider or for couples counseling. Coverage depends on your plan, the service, and whether the insurer considers it medically necessary. Call the member-services number on your insurance card and ask specifically about out-of-network telehealth benefits before your appointment.
Scheduling, Cancellation, and What to Expect
Once you schedule, we will send your intake paperwork and clear instructions for joining the appointment. Sessions take place through TherapyNotes, an encrypted, HIPAA-compliant platform. When it’s time to meet, you can open the secure link on a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone. You will not need to purchase software or work through a complicated setup.
Before your first appointment, find a private setting and check your internet connection. Headphones may help you feel more comfortable if other people are nearby. At the beginning of the session, your therapist may ask where you are and how to reach you if the connection drops or an urgent concern comes up. These questions help keep online care safe.
We understand that plans sometimes change. Relationships & More has a 24-hour cancellation policy, and we may charge for missed appointments or late cancellations unless there is an emergency. If you need to reschedule, be sure to get in touch with us as soon as possible, and we will try to find another time.

Frequently Asked Questions About Relationships & More Online Therapy
It’s normal to have questions before starting online therapy. These answers cover the practical details so you can decide whether the format feels right for you.
Is Online Therapy Covered by Insurance in New York?
Relationships & More doesn’t bill insurance directly, but we provide receipts you can submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement or apply to a health savings account. New York’s telehealth law generally prevents plans from excluding an otherwise covered service just because it’s delivered by video, but out-of-network benefits vary by plan. Call your insurer to verify your coverage before your first session.
Can I Do Couples Counseling Online?
Yes. Couples therapy works well over video, whether partners join from the same room or separate locations—a practical advantage when work schedules, travel, or a long commute make a shared appointment difficult. Approaches like the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy translate effectively to a virtual format.
Do I Have To Live in New York City To Work With You?
No. Sessions are available to anyone physically located in New York State at the time of the appointment, including all five NYC boroughs, Westchester County, Long Island, the Hudson Valley, and upstate. New York licensure is what determines eligibility, not proximity to the office in Croton-on-Hudson.
Is Online Therapy as Effective as In-Person Therapy?
Research consistently finds teletherapy comparable to in-person treatment for many concerns, including anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties. The therapeutic relationship — the strongest predictor of outcome — forms reliably over video. Some situations still call for in-person care, which we can discuss during a consultation.
What Platform Do You Use for Online Sessions?
Sessions run on TherapyNotes, a secure, encrypted, HIPAA-compliant video platform. Joining requires only a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera, microphone, and stable internet connection — no software purchase or account setup. We send a secure link before each appointment, and technical setup takes a few minutes at most.
How Long Is an Online Therapy Session?
Standard sessions last 45 minutes, with longer appointments available for couples work or intensives. Frequency is typically weekly at the outset and adjusts as progress allows. Length and cadence are set collaboratively during the first appointment.
